Toi Maori: The Eternal Thread returns from its groundbreaking and highly successful international tour of the USA.
Arriving back at Christchurch Art Gallery in February 2007, weavers from the national network Te Roopu Raranga Whatu o Aotearoa will give talks at the exhibition and demonstrations on weaving.
A major programme of events featuring Maori art and artists will be held throughout February - May 2007 at the gallery.
With over 90 works, showcasing the very best of traditional and contemporary weaving, the exhibition was originally developed by Pataka Museum in Porirua, in partnership with Toi Maori Aotearoa and Te Roopu Raranga Whatu o Aotearoa and receives major funding from Te Waka Toi, the Maori Arts Board of Creative New Zealand.
