Aroha Witinitara

Ngāti Kahungungu ki Wairarapa

Kia ora koutou, my name is Aroha Witinitara and I’m one of the Taihonoa interns for 2024. I’m a second-year student in the Bachelor of Communication at Victoria and I’m majoring in Literary and Creative Communication.

I chose my degree because I am a storyteller. During my time at Toi Māori Aotearoa, I hope to use the writing and research skills from my degree to promote the mahi of kaituhi Māori.

I am also a writer, and I mainly produce poetry. My works are informed by the time I’ve spent in Masterton, where I grew up, and the time I’ve spent in Wellington, where I live now.
