Ngāi Tāmanuhiri, Rongowhakaata 

Hemaima is a full-time student and mixed media ringatoi based in Pōneke, Wellington. Her work explores Indigenous aspirations and tino rangatiratanga; With a background in Te Mahi-ā-toi, the Māori Arts Academy at Rutherford College, and being a ‘general tutu,’ Hemaima has honed an array of skills which allow her to blend modern tools with Māori concepts. With experience in textiles, whakairo, painting, and digital design, Hemaima tends to draw themes from her studies in Māori Resource Management and Sociology to create pieces of liberation.
