Growing up in his papakāinga of Waiwhetū, Mana Hokianga was constantly surrounded by aspects of his culture. He saw how his people loved and cherished their cultural practices, which planted a seed of love and appreciation in Mana for Māori art. In his rangatahitanga, Mana focused his attention on mahi whakairo. He is now striving to spread the whakapapa and Pūrākau of his tribe(s) through whakairo during his time at Te Herenga Waka.
