Mana is a freelance musician based in Te Whanganui a Tara and has played in major art festivals and orchestras around Wellington such as the Fringe Festival, Classical on Cuba, Orchestra Wellington, and the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra. At the end of 2023, Mana completed her Bachelor of Music majoring in Classical Violin Performance under the tutelage of Helene Pohl of the New Zealand String Quartet at the Victoria University of Wellington, Te Kōkī New Zealand School of Music. Mana was generously supported by the Deane Endowment Trust throughout her studies. Mana also teaches violin at Arohanui Strings, a Sistema- inspired music programme that provides free music lessons to children.

“Coming from a performance background and being highly affiliated with the New Zealand String Quartet throughout my time at University, I am thrilled to learn more about the ins and outs of the performance industry and to hopefully apply these valuable skills into my own career aspirations. I am excited to network and meet other like minded individuals throughout the duration of this internship and to form connections in other areas of arts administration.”

The Māori Arts Internship (MAI) Programme is supported and funded by Creative New Zealand.
