Ngāti Tūwharetoa, Ngāti Kahungunu ki Heretaunga
Video presentation
I whakapapa to the land and waters that feed Te Manawa o Te Ika a Maui, known to my people as Te Kōpua Kāpanapa o Taupō Nui-a-Tia, The deep glistening pool of Tia.
The images of these locations are not memory, but identity. Through my practice I seek to capture the unseen, the essence and pace of place. Our ancestors were masters at listening and understanding our taiao, attributes that are reflected in waiata, pātere and pūrākau.
The hidden messages within these, I use as drivers for my creative process.
Artwork will be available for pick up/dispatch after the exhibition.
