TM-BK-PW

$25.00

Te Tū a Te Toka (The Rocks Endure) is a collection of work from senior Māori writers written in te reo Māori. These are voices from a generation which grew up with the language. Contributions include fiction and non-fiction: one of only two poems in Māori by Hone Tuwhare, scary stories of past events, charming reminiscences of a rural life that has all but vanished, and timely reflections on the changing scene in the 21st century encompassing politics, the arts and social phenomena. Written by some of the most eminent individuals in the Māori community, this book is an entertaining and important anthology.

Names that will resonate for readers include Mate Kaiwai (daughter of Sir Āpirana Ngata), Keri Kaa, Kāterina Mataira, Te Wharehuia Milroy, Pou Temara, Tīmoti Karetū and Waihoroi and Rahera Shortland.
