A Wheku represents a tūpuna (ancestor) and kaitiaki (guardian) and is often found at an entrance to a whare or the apex of a gable of the Whare Nui.

Wheku Tahi is one of Messini’s first cast pieces and is based on a collaboration with friend and Master Carver, Michael Matchitt.

Individually hand crafted using stone (or resin) and finished with four layers of acrylic paint and pāua inlay eyes, a process that takes at least a week to complete with each one subtly unique.

Wheku Tahi comes in a signature contemporary colour palette ranging from Fluro, Neutrals, Metallic and Pastels.
