This piece is part of a series that acknowledges the birds traditionally used to adorn woven taonga. The series is an ode to their beauty and importance in Māori culture and weaving.
This work focuses on the North Island brown kiwi. It has been made using muka on a hue, with natural dye, kōrari, natural muka, and pōkinikini. The materials and subject reflect a connection to the land and the role birds play in our weaving traditions.
Artwork will be available for pick up/dispatch after the exhibition.
