Tauranga based weaver Sonny Hape has been learning alongside her weaving mentors since the early 2000s, often in the company of her mother, Glenda Hape.
Initially helping out with exhibitions and in the classroom, Sonny eventually got her hands on natural resources and hasn’t stopped tinkering since. She is especially drawn to the intricacies of muka, appreciating the depth and detail this fine harakeke fibre brings to her work.
